The beautiful scarlet red glossy cranberry is an amazing food! Grows in colder climates in marshes and bogs. Sour in flavor and in season now! I’m not talkin bout that strange jelly like stuff that came from a can and sat untouched on the holiday dinner table..I’m talkin fresh, full of superfood power you want all winter long cranberries!!

The Berry boasts some high quality healing attributes for the urinary tract. And recent studies have shown that some of the phytonutrients present help block adhesion of bacteria to the lining of the urinary tract and GI! So not only is the humble Cranberry super high in Vit, C and fiber, it is a strong anti-bacterial as well. Helping the body to fight unwanted bacteria such as E. Coli and H. pylori! There are also substantial amounts of anti-oxidants to protect the cardiovascular system and aid the body with anti-inflamatory actions!

It also happens to be delicious! These two whole food recipes give an easy way to add the amazing cranberry to your diet. Not just for thanksgiving dinner but sure tastes gooood with turkey 🙂 I have made both of these recipes for years and love them both! You can even mix a spoonful in to hot water for a sweet tart beverage to fight off a cold or to just enjoy!

Satsuma Lavender Cranberry chutney

2 bags organic fresh Cranberries

4 whole Satsuma or other tangerines quartered and squeezed into cranberries (remove seeds)

2 t Lavender blossoms

3/4 cup water

simmer together for 25 min stirring frequently…or until desired consistancy. Turn off heat.

Add 1/2 – 3/4 cup raw honey

1TBLS Raw apple cider vinegar

combine together while still warm and stir well…Jar and or serve immedietly.

Both recipes can be blended after all ingredients are combined for a smoother texture in food prosessor or with a hand power blender.

Ginger Spice Cranberry Chutney!!

2 bags OG Cranberries

1 cup apple cider or juice

1-2 in of shredded fresh ginger root.. how spiced do you like?

5 Allspice berries or 1 t pumpkin pie spice

Simmer together 25 min or so stirring frequently. Remove from heat.

Add 1/2 cup raw honey

1TBL Apple cider vinegar.

Stir or blend together, jar or serve immediatly.

Enjoy!
